A Very Big Thank You Dear Sally, Dave, Anna-Maria, Sergio,
Moya, Steve and Amelia What a wonderful stay! We only
meant to stay for the night but it took us nearly two
weeks to say goodbye! It really was a truly magical
time and we miss you all very much. It is back to reality
here: Anna-Maria - my ironing is appalling compared
to yours and Sergio we miss propping up the bar with
you (Sergio, we want to come to the wedding!). Steve,
what a cook!, and we wish you and Amelia every happiness
in the future. Moya, we hope you have recovered and
thank you so much for your help with the kids. Come
and see them soon. Dave, one day we'lll send you Guiness's
pool Olympics and Sally, what can we say, you have created
the magic in the first place! Sadly our house has not
worked out, but hey, it just means we'll have to come
and stay again! We wish you all the very best and if
any of you are passing through the UK do come and say
hello!
With love Angela, Simon and the Kids |

Sue and I have just spent a weekend
at Sally's guest house, La Cour Des Cloches in the Cognac
Region of France and I just thought I would drop you
all a quick line to let you know how good it was. The
guest house itself is very nice and in a wonderful location,
surrounded by vinyards. We travelled over by train,
arriving at the nearest town (Jarnac) which is about
10 mintues away from the guest house. We were collected
by Dave, looking very cool in his shorts, shades and
baseball hat, driving is his convertible Saab (roof
down, it was a very hot day). Our room was excellent,
with en-suite facilities, including an excellent power
shower. We had dinner at the guest house the first evening,
which was very good, and the second night we walked
through the vineyards to a nearby village and visited
a local restaurant there which was recommended to us
and had a fabulous meal there. If you fancy a weekend
break, I would definitely go and spend a weekend with
Sally. The prices are very reasonable. In my opinion,
the best way of getting there is by train, as all the
airports you could use are at least an hour away. There
is loads to do and see in the area, but it is in a rural
location, so a hire car is worthy of serious consideration.
There is still some work going on at the guest house
as rooms are being refurbished etc, but this did not
disturb us at all. If you have skills that might help
Sally in the running of the place and also in the refurbishment
work going on.
